I’ve got nothing.
It’s either another monkey post or an anti-depressant post.
Speaking of anti-depressants, I’ve been clean of the aforementioned since January. And in honor of my sobriety from legal drugs – please to enjoy a run down of Ryan’s experience with our nation’s finest pharmaceuticals (it seems like I’ve been on them all).
Chronological with side effects included:
Wellbutrin – I couldn’t get a boner.
Zoloft - Zombism (behaving in a Zombie like manner) and I didn’t eat for an entire weekend.
Paxil – No complaints really. I gave it up because I was joining the stupid Navy.
Lexapro - Severe zombism.
Effexor – At a whopping 225mg dose, Effexor caused the following to your poor narrator: alcoholism, zombism, weirdness, and the dreaded Effexor withdrawal symptom known as discontinuation syndrome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discontinuation_syndrome).
Anyway, to part with protocol and not to stand on ceremony, I’m going to list my five favorite songs of all time. It’s not really of all time though, just the songs I have on my current playlist. This is very similar to Jeff Healy’s classic 2008 post about his favorite albums of the year (without the pretty pictures).
Not in any particular order:
Bankrobber by The Clash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtndppVypUc
Flux by Bloc Party: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttcboE1GrNg
Lost in the Super Market by The Clash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA8LWKiOTGI
Map of the Problematique by The Muse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyLx0qc_gKc
And last but not least: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeE8x--PeII&feature=related
P.S. Jeff, how about an update over at http://www.imbacktosavetheuniverse.blogspot.com/
P.S.S. Seth, where do you live now?

Thanks for the big ups. I will make an update sometime in the future (not sure when). It's hard to compete with this wonderful blog.

Holy Shit, I just clicked on that last link and nearly spit my V8 splash all over my computer screen. I have not been able to listen to anything other Radiohead for like a month, maybe i should look into some of these zombie meds...

My apologies for the double post, but I figured I'd list the 5 songs at the top of my playlist.
"There There"
"Airbag"
"Idioteque"
"Let Down"
"Anyone can play guitar"

Thanks for reminding me about "Flux" song is an uber jam.

I might as well throw in my top of the playlist songs as well:

"Skeletons" - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

"4 Minute Warning" - Radiohead

Ok Computer (the entire album) - RH

"Mercy" - Plants and Animals (I highly recommend this jam)

"Wot's...Uh, the Deal" - Pink Floyd (surprisingly a song I hadn't heard until recently...amazing)

Okay, first of all good post, I am currently formulating my top five songs and it will need to take awhile. Jeff I would like to voice an issue I have with your top five. You can only pick five songs, all of OK Computer does not fit into this category. That wrecks the integrity of the list. I am asking for a correction at this point.

This week's playlist:

Camera Obscura
Album: My Maudlin Career
Song: French Navy

Eulogies
Album: Here Anonymous
Song: Two Can Play

Metric
Album: Fantasies

John Vanderslice
Album: Romanian Names
Song: D.I.A.L.O.

And last but not least:

Wu-Tang Clan

Have you guys picked up the Collector's Editions of the Radiohead albums Capitol put out? Creep, the Acoustic version- must have.

I've scarcely heard of any of the bands mentioned by you guys. Apart from Radiohead of course. But I'm sure it's because most of the music I listen to nowadays was recorded two decades ago. Anyways, I wish Scott Baio was my babysitter growing up (i mean that in a non-sexual way).

p.s. is anyone familiar with Bob Loblaw?

Bob Loblaw's infamous Law Blog...of course.

Vince, I don't live by the normal laws of society. I can arrange the top 5 as I choose.

"Why should YOU go to jail for a crime someone else noticed?"

My playlist is usually just new albums of the month (singles from itunes), rarely, a really good song will stick in the rotation of 20 for more than 3 months.

Yes, Okkervil River has some choice cuts indeed.

I'm going to add another song to my playlist:
"Hey Hey, My My" (the acoustic 'Out of the Blue' version) by Neil Young

Ah yes, Ryan I can see why you are struggling for inspiration these days...especially since the futbol club you savor over sucks so much penis. On a related note, how about that Manchester United club. Cheers boys!

To answer your question, I currently reside in the most unassuming and probably least fun college town in the country known as Fairfax, VA home of the George Mason Patriots. My feelings toward them and my current residence is bleak and full of general disdain towards my current lot in life.

Since I can never pass up an opportunity to rip Vince I will do so now. Let Jeff compose his list as he likes and for someone offering his criticism towards someone else's list such as you did maybe you shouldn't have titled your list "Okay here is my current top 25 most played on Itunes" and then proceeded to only list 5 tracks. Either proof your post or give us all 25 joints, because as is you sir are just false advertising.

As for Zombie Meds, I just try to stay away from them. At least ever since a few years ago when a took some about 8 or 9 drinks in to my evening and blacked-out only to wake in a pile of beer cans on the couch of one of my sketchy friends grandmother's house with one of what I assume was one of his young relative's staring at me and later explaining that they thought I was dead. Continue to have your fun though.

Top 5 current songs to come later...

I noticed that typo after I wrote it but decided not to fix it for some reason. I reserve the right to pass judgement on a list. There are 12 songs on Ok Computer. Coupled with Jeff's other four, he produced a top 16 list. I will admit that I made a mistake and typed 25 instead of five but it is indeed five. Jeff should either fix his list or re-label it as a to 16 playlist.
